The city girl does the state fair - La chica de ciudad que se fue a la feria estatal

This was my look yesterday, when I made my annual visit to the state fair. As much as I love where I live - a place where there's no traffic and the only noise you hear while outside is the birds chirping - for the last 7 years I have ignored that this place also houses people who live with cows and pigs. Nothing wrong with that, but I am a city girl!! I like to think that my milk comes from some machine and don't need to see the guy who actually pulls the cow's udders to get it. For those of you who are Sex and the City fans, I feel as if I've been stuck in the "Sex and the country" episode - when Aidan takes Carrie to his country house - for one year too many. Luckily, there's also an Aidan in my episode, so it's become a fun adventure to say the least. 

Asi fui vestida ayer durante mi visista anual a la feria estatal. Aunque me encanta el sitio donde vivo - un lugar donde no hay trafico y el unico ruido que escuchas cuando estas fuera es el cantar de los pajaritos - durante los ultimos 7 años he ignorado que en este lugar tambien vive gente que vive con vacas y con cerdos. Y eso no tiene nada de malo, pero yo soy una chica de ciudad!! Yo prefiero pensar que mi leche viene de una maquina y no necesito ver a la persona estirando las tetas de la vaca para sacar la leche. Para aquell@s que seais fans de la serie Sexo en Nueva York, siento que vivo metida en el episodio titulado "Sexo y el campo" - cuando Aidan lleva a Carrie a su casa de campo. Afortunadamente, mi episodio tambien tiene un Aidan, asi que por lo menos todo se ha convertido en una aventura divertidisima.

And here I am with a pig. I have to say that yesterday was the HOTTEST day that I can remember here. The temperature feel was 118 degrees F. So, of course, it was an ideal day to be around pigs. We were not able to get a better picture because my friend and I were laughing hysterically, and I was terrified to be so close to the pig. I thought that it would either bite my arm or - even WORSE - my dress!

Y aqui estoy con un cerdo. Tengo que decir que ayer fue el dia de mas calor que yo recuerdo. La sensacion termica era de 48 grados C. Asi que, por supuesto, ayer era el dia ideal para estar rodeada de cerdos. No conseguimos hacer una foto mejor porque mi amiga y yo no podiamos para de reir, y yo estaba muerta de miedo de estar tan cerca del cerdo. Pense que o bien me iba a morder el brazo o - todavia PEOR - que me morderia el vestido!!

Lastly, here I am posing with a cow. If I was afraid of the pig, do not even get me started on the cow (notice the distance?). A few seconds after that, my white espadrilles stepped on a "mysterious" brown substance, and that was obviously the time to call it a day. For those of you who know me well, I would have rather been bitten by the pig than having my shoes ruined!! 

Por ultimo, aqui estoy posando con una vaca. Si me daba miedo el cerdo, ni falta hace que explique lo que sentia por la vaca (se nota la distancia?). Unos segundos despues de esta foto, pise una "misteriosa" sustancia marron y, evidentemente, ese fue el momento de poner fin a mi dia en la feria. Aquellos que me conoceis bien sabeis que preferiria que me hubiera mordido el cerdo a salir de la feria con mis zapatos destrozados!!
