Una de mis normas a la hora de comprar ropa/zapatos es NUNCA comprar prendas basicas en temporada, a menos que verdaderamente las necesite. Todas mis prendas basicas las compro a finales de temporada y ahora vais a entender por que. Ayer me compre esta camisa de Nicole Miller por $4.97 (ahora os invito a que pincheis en este enlace de la camisa y veais cuanto costaba en temporada). 

Que os parece? A mi me encanta esta tendencia con cortes asimetricos!!

One of my rules when buying clothes / shoes is NEVER buy basics in season, unless I really need them. I buy all my basics at the end of the season and now you'll understand why. Yesterday I bought this Nicole Miller shirt for $ 4.97 (now I invite you to follow this link and see how much it was during the season).

Cuestion de Estilo: Look cocktail por menos de $100 - It's a style thing: Cocktail look for less than $100

Esta tarde me llamo mi mejor amiga pidiendome consejo en cuanto a que ponerse para una fiesta de cocktail que tiene el proximo fin de semana. Condicion: la fiesta es mas bien conservadora y no se quiere gastar mucho en el look porque seguramente no se lo volvera a poner. Es mas, no quiere gastarse mas de $100 en total. Me encanta este reto, no solo por encontrar el look por debajo de los $100, sino tambien por encontrar un look conservador pero con un toque cool para que lo pueda volver a usar. Este es el resultado. Total = $96.46

My best friend called me this afternoon asking for advice about what to wear to a cocktail party next weekend. Condition: the party is rather conservative and she doesn't want to spend much on the look because she probably won't wear it again. Not just that, she doesn't want to spend more than $100 in total. I love this challenge, not only to find the look for under $ 100, but also to find a conservative look cool enough that she'll want to use it again. This is the result. Total = $96.46

La coleccion de las Kardashians para Sears - The Kardashian collection for Sears

Este post esta inspirado por mi amiga Gloria, porque fue ella quien desperto mi interes en la nueva coleccion de las hermanas Kardashian para Sears (las hermanas han conseguido que Sears haga envios a todas partes del mundo). En un principio no le hubiera prestado mucha atencion, porque Sears es una tienda que no se carazterica por el buen gusto en cuanto a las marcas de ropa, pero quizas y solo quizas las Kardashians hayan acabado con esa fama. 

This post is inspired by my friend Gloria, because she was the person who made me curious about the new collection that the Kardashian made for Sears (the sisters have managed to make Sears ship the collection worldwide). At first, I would not have paid much attention, because Sears is not famous for its good taste in terms of clothing brands but maybe, just maybe, the Kardashians have put an end to that fame.

Antes de dar mi opinion en cuanto a las prendas, confieso que soy fan de esta familia. Os explico por que. Esta claro que ni cantan, ni actuan, ni tienen un talento especial que salte a la vista. Pero admiro mucho la capacidad que ha tenido la madre - porque para mi ella es la artifice de todo esto - en convertir a TODA la familia en un marca internacional tras el escandalo sexual de una de sus hijas,  Kim Kardashian.

Aquello paso en en 2007 y cuatro años y varios millones de dolares despues, las hermanas tienen perfumes que se agotan en las tiendas, libros que llegan a la lista de los mas vendidos del New York Times, y un reality numero uno de audiencia. Kris Jenner descubrio la formula de convertir a su familia en un negocio y creo que aun nos queda mucho mas por ver de esta familia. Ahora si, voy con el repaso a las prendas que vi ayer. Empiezo con las malas noticias.

Before giving my opinion about the clothes, I confess that I'm a fan of this family. I'll explain why. It is clear that neither sing nor act, or have a special talent that meets the eye. But I admire the ability that the mother - because, in my opinion, she is the creator of it all - to turn the whole family into an international brand after the sex scandal of one of her daughters, Kim Kardashian. That happened in 2007 and four years and several million dollars later, the sisters have fragrances that go out of stock, books that make it into the best seller's list of The New York Times, and a number one reality show. Kris Jenner discovered the formula to turn her family into a business and I think we still have much more to see of this family. Now, here's my review of what I saw yesterday.  I'll start with the bad news. 

Calidad de la tela espantosa y terrible corte - Horrible fabric quality and terrible cut

La tela es malisima casi transparente - Very cheap fabric, almost see through

Probablemente mi favorito. Muy buena tela y corte super favorecedor. Probably my favorite. Very nice fabric and super flattering cut.

Ahora hablemos de precios. Las prendas oscilan entre los $40 y $100. Que la coleccion este en Sears tiene una GRAN ventaja. Este tipo de tiendas tiene rebajas practicamente todo el año, es decir, que si vas un dia y la prenda esta a precio completo, si vuelves en una semana esta todo, al menos, al 30% de descuento (ayer ese era el caso). Asi que los vestidos estaban por unos $60. No me fije mucho en los precios ni de los tops ni de los pantalones porque no me llamaron nada la atencion. Eso si, alguno de esos vestido terminara en mi armario :-) Que os parece a vosotras?

Now let's talk prices. The pieces range from $ 40 to $ 100. The collection being at Sears has a great advantage. This type of stores have sales almost all year, that is, if you go day and the item is at full price, just return in a week and it will be at least 30% off (that was the case yesterday) . So the dresses were about $60. I did not pay much attention to the prices for the tops or pants because nothing caught my attention. But I am sure that one of those dresses will make it to my closet :-) What do you all think?

Hasta que descubri Rent the Runway (os teneis que hacer una cuenta con la pagina para poder tener acceso a ella, pero solamente hace falta dar tu email y nada mas). En esta pagina, puedes alquilar vestidos de diseño a precios incluso mas bajos de lo que os costaria ese vestido que seguramente solo os pondreis una vez. Cual es la ventaja? Pues que ireis al evento vestidas de Donna Karan, Dolce & Gabanna, o Vera Wang entre otros. Aqui os dejo mis vestidos favoritos (algunos de ellos ya los he probado).

Cuestion de estilo - It's a style thing

Hoy inauguro una seccion de una parte de mi que de momento no habia llegado al blog: la moda!! Cada Viernes os traere una idea para un look de fin de semana creado con mis marcas favoritas. Como es el primer post de moda, os voy a hablar un poquito de mi estilo. Me gustan las prendas simples aunque de colores llamativos. Creo que el secreto de un look esta en saber combinar bien las prendas con accesorios diferentes (especialmente los zapatos). No creo en las normas establecidas a la hora de vestirme (por ejemplo, no creo que el marron no combine con el negro o que los zapatos han de ser del mismo color que el bolso). Aqui os dejo mi primer look. Mirad debajo de la foto para ver donde encontre cada cosa.

I am starting a new weekly section today regarding something about me that I had not brought to the blog yet: fashion!! Every Friday, I will bring you an idea for a weekend look created with my favorite brands. Since this is my first fashion post, I will tell you a little bit about my style. I like basic pieces but in eye catching colors. I believe that the secret to a winning look is knowing how to combine your clothing with different accessories (especially shoes!). I do not believe in rules when it comes to fashion (i.e. I believe that brown and black can be worn together and I don't believe that shoes and handbags have to match). Here's my first look.
